About AFP'08 and TFP'08

The sixth AFP and the ninth TFP will be held subsequently during the second half of May in 2008 in The Netherlands, at Center Parcs "Het Heijderbos". For more information about the venue, see below. Both events have a strong focus at attracting young researchers, both in education (AFP) and novel research (TFP). The combination of AFP and TFP is an excellent opportunity to get introduced to advanced and state-of-art functional programming subjects. AFP features lectures given by experts in the field, and TFP solicits for high quality contributions. Authors can submit a paper to TFP in the form of an extended abstract or a full paper. For more details, please see the call for papers. Acceptance of contributions is based on these submissions. Accepted papers can be revised as many times as desired prior to the symposium. They will be distributed at the symposium, and made available on-line. All authors are invited to submit revised papers for the formal post-symposium proceedings. All submissions are judged by standard symposium criteria. Detailed author instructions can be found here.

Information in case you're traveling by:

• Car:
  Parking is free for attendants of AFP and TFP. Tell the gatekeeper that you're coming for AFP or TFP and he'll tell you where you can park your car. Afterwards, you can proceed to the business center for registration.
• Train (updated for TFP):
  Boxmeer trainstation is the best stop for reaching the venue. You can get a taxi from the taxi company "Maasbuurt Taxi" at phone number (+31)(0)485 511000. Please note that this is not part of the fee, so you will have to pay the taxi driver yourself. Please mention "TFP" and (more challenging) "Radboud University", and they will send a taxi to pick you up. If you make sure how many people wish to be picked up then you can share the fare.
  The Dutch railways have an informative site where you can find information about train connections and instructions how to use the self-service ticket vending machines (lage yellow boxes).
• Plane:
  Coming from any airport except Weeze, the best way to continue your travel is using the train and go to Boxmeer trainstation. See above for further information. Please note that at Schiphol airport trains leave underground, in the main hall of the trainstation. The trainstation is under the same roof as the airport. From Weeze, it is most convenient to order a taxi to bring you to the venue.

Here you can find the reserved taxis. You can find them at the gate (where the bus for the social event was waiting). Please be on time, because you will miss the train otherwise.

The submission site is open. Please note that a few problems have been solved in the latest version of the LaTeX style and guidelines.

Program Information

Registration (closed)

AFP'08 and TFP'08 are held in Center Parcs "Het Heijderbos". This arrangement covers accomodation, conference, meals, and proceedings. Note that you can check-in one day prior to the start of each event, and check-out one day after each event (see also the time-table below). We have booked a limited number of DeLuxe cottages for participants. For this reason we require each person who registers to pay the fee within two weeks after registration. Early registration is possible for both events starting at march 1 2008 until april 16 2008. Late registration closes at may 5 2008 (together with uploading of final version of pre-symposium papers for TFP'08). We cannot guarantee accomodation for registrations later than may 5 2008. If you attend both events, then you will receive a reduction of €50. The registration site informs you about the fee. For your convenience, we have included the fee rules here as well:

• If you attend AFP, then the early registration fee is €995, the late registration fee is also €995 (new).
• If you attend TFP, then the early registration fee is €595, the late registration fee is also €595 (new).
• If you attend both AFP and TFP, then you receive a reduction of €50.
• Each of the three bedrooms in a DeLuxe cottage has two beds (2-person bed, lits-jumeaux, and bunk-bed). If you like you can come with your partner, who will obviously share the bedroom. We assume that your partner does not attend AFP or TFP (note that if your partner does wish to attend AFP or TFP, then she/he should be registered as a collegue). The fee for your partner for AFP is €400, and for TFP it is €200.
• In order to reduce costs, you can indicate that you wish to choose to share a bedroom in one of the DeLuxe cottages. Please provide the name of the person that will share your bedroom, and note that he/she should register for the same events as you do. The reduction in cost for AFP is €153, and for TFP it is €85. If you do not know somebody to share your room with, then you can indicate this as well at the site. We will try to find someone for you. You pay the complete fee now, and receive the reduction at the event if we have found somebody for you.

If you register, you commit yourself to paying the fee within two weeks after registration. If we have not received your fee, we cancel your registration.

The registration site is closed. If you wish to attend AFP and/or TFP, then please contact the organization.
Note for Safari users: We have noticed that the registration site has problems when using the Safari browser. When entering the registration code, please do not use the mouse button to press the button, but use the tab key to proceed to the button. Alternatively, the site works well with Firefox and Explorer.

AFP Student Grants (closed)

We have taken great care to reduce the registration cost as much as possible. We can grant a subsidy for a limited number of PhD student participants who wish to attend AFP for whom the costs are still too high. In order to apply for this subsidy, you need to send (by surface mail or e-mail) a request for subsidy which contains your personal information, affiliation, a description of your current status, project description, a motivation why you should receive the grant, and a recommendation from your PhD supervisor. This letter should arrive before april 7 2008 to:

Checking-in and Checking-out (updated)

The DeLuxe cottages have been booked starting one day before each event (this includes diner), and ending one day after each event (this includes breakfast). The table below tells you when you can check-in and check-out. If you attend both events, then you will stay in the same cottage during the entire period.

(new) Registration at the 18th of may is possible from 14:00h - 21:00h. Registration will take place in the business center of Center Parcs "Het Heijderbos".
(new) Registration at the 25th of may is possible from 15:00h - 21:00h. Registration will take place in the business center of Center Parcs "Het Heijderbos".

If you arrive outside these hours, then you can go to the guest service lodge which is open 24h a day, where you can get the cottage number and room.

Important information (new):

In case your fee has arrived at our bank account, you will receive a receipt at registration that confirms this. We know several people are experiencing problems with the fee payment. In case you have not received an e-mail from us that confirms that we have received your fee, then you need to provide us a proof of payment at registration. This proof of payment will help us track down your fee quicker. In case you do not hand over a proof of payment, then we need you to pay the fee in cash at registration. Of course, in the latter case, if your fee arrives at our bank account later, then this will be refunded immediately to you.

TFP 2009 and 2010 (new)

The steering committee of TFP has received bids for future TFP's. We are happy to acknowledge that there is great interest in organising TFP. The next two TFP meetings are:

• 2009: The location is Komarno (Slovakia) and is organized by Zoltan Horvath and Viktoria Zsok. It is co-located with the Central European Functional Programming summer school.
• 2010: The location is the University of Oklahoma and is organized by Rex Page.

We are looking forward to meeting you there.
